MLase develops and manufactures excimer laser sources as well as complementary components for integration into medical devices and industrial applications. Our customers are system integrators in the fields of laser surgery and manufacturing technology.
How We Can Help You
Standard Products & Configurations
Industrial excimer lasers with clearly defined performance ranges and selectable system parameters. Designed for fast integration into production environments while maintaining flexibility.
Compact Excimer Lasers for Medicine and Industry
Our broad product portfolio includes a variety of laser systems differentiated by their performance, reliability, and precision.
MLase excimer lasers cover all typical wavelengths (193nm, 248nm, 308nm), an energy range of up to more than 200mJ per pulse or pulse repetition rates of up to 1,000 Hz.
OEM Excimer Lasers for Medical Applications
MLase develops and manufactures high-performance excimer lasers tailored for various medical fields:
Refractive Surgery (LASIK):
ArF excimer lasers (193nm) designed for corneal reshaping in vision correction procedures. MLase lasers have been used to treat millions of patients worldwide.
For many years, MLase has been developing and manufacturing ArF excimer lasers (193nm) for the treatment of the human cornea to correct vision using LASIK. Millions of patients have been treated with lasers from MLase.
Energy stability is of central importance in this application, as the correction result directly depends on the laser’s delivered energy dose. Intermittent operation in this application, with long pauses between individual patients and between consecutive treatment days, places high demands on gas lifetime. MLase excimer lasers have proven to be particularly low-maintenance in this regard and have a very low gas consumption.
Laser Atherectomy:
XeCl excimer lasers (308nm) engineered for long-term operation – over one year without gas exchange – and delivering over 200mJ of pulse energy. Ideal for fiber-based minimally invasive vascular surgery.
One of our specialties is XeCl excimer lasers (308nm) for medical applications, which can operate for more than one year without a gas refill. Our lasers provide more than 200 mJ of pulse energy for coupling into a fiber applicator for minimally invasive surgery.
Due to their very high gas lifetime, these lasers are used without a gas supply system. They are delivered sealed-off and operate for more than a year without a gas exchange.
Individual lasers have already achieved a gas lifetime of more than 5 years.
Glaucoma Treatment:
Complete medical systems integrating MLase’s XeCl lasers with proprietary fiber coupling optics and energy calibration for precise and effective glaucoma therapy.
MLase is the developer and manufacturer of a complete medical device, integrating its own XeCl excimer lasers with an emission wavelength of 308nm, proprietary fiber coupling optics, and energy calibration.
Due to their very high gas lifetime, these lasers are equipped without a gas supply system. They are delivered sealed-off and operate for more than a year without a gas exchange.
As a result, the overall system can be designed to be very compact and mobile.
Excimer Lasers for Industrial Applications
Our lasers serve a broad spectrum of industrial processes. With a modular design approach, we tailor each system to meet specific customer needs, offering:
- Wavelengths: 193nm, 248nm (others on request: 157nm, 308nm, 351nm)
- Options for water cooling
- Repetition rates up to 1 kHz
Industrial applications are highly diverse. We support them through a modular system to meet all individual requirements. We are happy to configure your laser according to your needs – depending on wavelength (193nm, 248nm, 308nm), with or without water cooling, and with pulse repetition rates currently up to 1 kHz.
Depending on the configuration (with or without water cooling), they are very compact, with dimensions of 560mm x 355mm x 445mm (w/o protruding parts).
We are happy to also supply the appropriate gas supply system for you.
Typical industrial applications of these excimer lasers include:
- Writing of fiber Bragg gratings (FBG)
- Optical inspection and metrology such as testing micro-optics
- Laser structuring and scribing
- Micromachining of materials such as ceramics, metals, or plastics
- Laser ablation/pulsed laser deposition (PLD, ICP-MS)
- In semiconductor manufacturing for inspecting masks or direct wafer processing
In continuous operation applications, our lasers have proven to be especially robust. We guarantee several hundred million laser pulses before optics replacement is required.
Peripheral Components for Excimer Lasers
We are happy to complement our laser sources with peripheral components tailored to your application’s requirements.
These may include:
- Beam delivery systems to convert the astigmatic output beam into a homogeneous or Gaussian beam profile and to guide the beam to the application plane with minimal loss
- Fiber coupling devices for efficient coupling of the laser beam into an optical fiber
- Energy measurement devices for monitoring and controlling the laser energy
- Shutters for safe laser beam shut-off
- Gas supply systems for automatic gas exchange. These systems include halogen filters for the safe exhaust of used laser gas
- Cooling fan connector for cleanroom integration
